And I must confess I find Lloyd easier on the eye than Chaplin, which makes me interested in watching a few more of his films.I like to think of this romp atop a maze of iron girders as that chase sequence in Just a Harold Lloyd short, but if you like Safety Last (the one where he climbs the skyscraper and hangs off the face of the clock) this is great fun.

Better late than never!This is a fascinating and sometimes charming dark comedy - I didn't know that cinema dealt with such subjects so early.Though first, on aesthetics, the captions are in a lovely typeface, and some have a more poetic wording than I've previously seen in silents. The timing and inventiveness on show are some of the best i've seen from the period let alone from Lloyd and finally pushed me to buy the box set.The extended suicide scenes start out fine, Lloyd injects some nice doubt into the grand dramatic gestures and pulls some good laughs from the process as he gets scared…Now this ... this is more like it, Lloyd perfecting the "thrill comedy" formula he would later put to use in features like Safety Last. At that moment, a girder from the next door construction site swings into his office, lifting him and his chair outside.
