A former Melbourne great turned media personality has opened up on the day he was unceremoniously marched from his radio gig.Subscribe to the Sacked podcast on Spotify and Apple Podcasts.AFL great David Schwarz has spilt the beans on his axing from SEN and taken aim at Crocmedia owner Craig Hutchison.Schwarz hang up the boots on his career in 2002 following 173 games with Melbourne before switching to the media industry where his radio career commenced in 2005.Alongside co-host Mark Allen, the duo made a name for themselves on the SEN airwaves before they were ruthlessly dropped following major changes at the station.Schwarz detailed the brutal axing following Hutchison’s move to buy the radio station and change up the personalities on the station.“Hutchy came in and he bought into SEN or they merged (with Pacific Star Network) and we got our marching orders, which was devastating on many fronts, and then we went over to Macquarie Sport,” Schwarz told the “We came off air at seven o’clock on the last day (of the year) and then we were told to get our stuff together and get out of the building, and that was by Cathy Thomas, who was the CEO at the time.
