In real life? Girlfriend Material is a quick, cute, summer read! She was forced to leave her best friend, her tennis lessons, and a class behind all because Kate's parents had a fight and the mom thought it would be a great idea to “runway” to Cape Cod. At least that is the way it was for me. Kate thinks her summer is about to be ruined because her mom dragged her out of her home town in Salt Lake City to go to Cape Cod to Visit a friend they haven’t seen in 10 years. It would be excellent to throw in your bag for a day at the beach. I AM insane for not enjoying this book that much- at least, according to all those 4/5-star reviews, I am. I wish the book had more of an ending, it just ended suddenly. I could see so much of myself in Kate.Kate planned to spend her summer taking a writing class and hanging out with her best friend, but when her parents have yet another of their famous disagreements, she's shipped off to Cape Cod with her mom instead. I’ve enjoyed Melissa Kantor’s works in the past (Confessions of a Not It Girl and If I Have a Wicked Stepmother, Where’s My Prince?) However disappointingly, I wasn’t the biggest fan of this one. She also has a daughter named Sarah. She is leaving behind her best friend and her dad for the summer.

So there's no way Katy can get out of this. No'r her farther, brother, or sister had to go. The story did not really keep me guessing because every love story is almost the same. The only bright spot is Adam, one of the two boys in Sarah's group of friends, who is cute, funny, nice and kissable. They are going to see Kates moms best friend from college. That by someone's standards, those women are not worthy of being with anyone. It's bullshit.Because at the end of the day, nobody knows what girlfriend material is anyway.In my opinion, if you think of yourself as an awesome human being, who doesn't need a person on the street to measure your worth or your potential at finding true love, then you are totally girlfriend material — no matter what any guys say.This episode in Season 7 of GEN WHY examines WTF girlfriend material even means. This is what Kate thought, but it turns out she was completely wrong. Kate eventually gets to know Sarah's friends pretty well, but Sarah still acts bitter towards Kate. Adam was cute and sweet, and I enjoyed watching the friendships shift and change. What will Sarah say when she learns Kate is into him? It's the perfect book filler. They are headed for Cape Cod in New York. In real life? SCHOOLS OUT! What made Katy even more furious was the fact that she was the only other family member who had to go. It is cliched, cheesy, but it is such a comfort read for me. "Girlfriend material" is a list of characteristics predetermined by a single, random guy on what deems someone else worthy to date. I did not cry nor laugh when reading the book. They remind me so much of my teenage self. If you haven’t read it already, you have to read it as soon as you can! It is infused predominately with romance although there is more going on as well including family problems where Kate is concerned and also a little side drama with Sarah, the used to be (at one point and time) childhood friend who no longer wants anything to do with Kate.
