(1) Besides the snow and walking there is nothing to do here, (3) the non-skier will find things to do for few days but may become bored after a week, (5) the resort area is a fascinating place to visit, regardless of winter sports. The resort offers snow sports lessons, so kids can learn to ski or snowboard. (1) Brighton Resort relies entirely on natural snow, (3) there are just a few snow cannons, (5) there are snowmaking facilities on all pistes. (1) No intermediate terrain at Brighton Resort, (3) intermediate skiers will get bored after a few days, (5) vast areas of cruising runs. Brighton Resort has some of the best tree skiing in Utah. At the very top of Big Cottonwood Canyon, Brighton gets the very best of the "greatest snow on earth," and lots of it. There are two nice, relatively new Hyatt Place and Residence Inn hotels within a couple of blocks of the canyon.If you want to set yourself up for a little more in-town nightlife, you could stay in the funky Sugarhouse neighborhood, which sits halfway between the canyons and the city center. A combination of lower lift-ticket prices, free skiing for kids ages 10 and under, an appealing mix of beginner and expert terrain, wide, forgiving runs, and a mellow attitude make Brighton a great option for beginners and casual skiers and boarders.
